Louisa Conklin for Frederick County Council, District 1

Meet Louisa Conklin

Brunswick resident. First-time homeowner. Your neighbor.

I moved to Frederick County because I fell in love with the land and the community. The rolling farmland, the small-town feel, the neighbors who show up for each other. This is home.

I'm running because everything I love about this place is under threat — from data center sprawl, from unchecked development, from a county government that puts corporate profits before people.

District 1 deserves a representative who shows up, listens, and fights for the people who actually live here. That's what I intend to do.

In her own words — why she's running for District 1.

“Resident needs before developer profits. That's not a slogan — it's a promise.”

Where I Stand

Clear positions. No hedging.

Preserve Our Farmland

Reverse the East Alcoa data center expansion. Implement a moratorium on new data centers until the state study is complete. Frederick County's agricultural character isn't negotiable.

Keep Housing Affordable

Countywide landlord registry. Rent stabilization. Good cause eviction protections. Require affordable units in every new multi-unit development. Support first-time homebuyers with real programs.

Hold Corporations Accountable

Demand health and safety monitoring around data centers. Require environmental escrow funds. Lobby the state to let counties levy Business Personal Property tax on data center equipment.
